With profound gratitude and admiration, we honour Mrs. Hiranya Fernando, the 14th Principal of Methodist College, whose journey with her alma mater has been nothing short of extraordinary. For 24 years of devoted service, including a decade of inspired leadership as Principal, she gave her heart, strength, and faith to the school she loved so deeply — first as an old girl, then as a teacher, and ultimately as a visionary leader.
A leader of quiet strength and unwavering integrity, Mrs. Fernando was methodical in thought, creative in vision, and tireless in action. Her straightforward nature, exceptional ability to multitask, and genuine concern for the betterment of the school shaped an environment where excellence thrived. Under her guidance, Methodist College grew in purpose and progress, embracing modern facilities and innovative development, all while standing firmly on the foundation of Christian values.

What truly set her apart was her humility and down-to-earth spirit. She led with compassion, listened with empathy, and inspired with example — earning not just respect, but heartfelt admiration and love from students, staff, and the wider school community.

As she concludes her tenure at the end of this year, we extend our sincere appreciation for Mrs. Fernando’s years of devoted service.
