Principal
Mrs. Devshani Samaranayake
Mrs. Devshani Samaranayake assumed duties as the 15th Principal of Methodist College in January 2026. She is a past pupil of the school, and was well-known for her athletic abilities, being appointed the Games Captain in 2009. She holds a BA in Geography and an MSc in Geoinformatics from the University of Peradeniya, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Colombo. She has also undergone professional training in school leadership from the National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore. Ms. Samaranayake was the A/L (Arts) Sectional Head from January 2019 till she took over her role as Co-Vice Principal in 2023. In addition to being an excellent Geography teacher for Advanced Level students, Ms. Samaranayake also supervised all sports in the school, guiding the Sports Department in the fulfillment of their duties. Known for her efficiency and multitasking skills, as well as her calm nature and approachability, she now steers the school into the future, strengthened by her faith and trust in the Lord.
Vice Principal
Mrs. Nelomi Gunawardena
Mrs. Gunawardena assumed duties as Vice Principal of Methodist College in 2023. She has been a teacher of Mathematics and Science at Methodist College for the past 23 years. She is a trained teacher (NIE, Maharagama) and also holds a BSc. and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the Open University of Sri Lanka. Mrs. Gunawardena was a Sectional Head at Methodist College for 12 years in the Middle School, as well as for the O/L classes. She is an efficient and dedicated teacher, who is well loved by all students.
Co-Vice Principal
Mrs. Dilini Benjamin
Ms. Dilini Benjamin (nee Vithanage), yet another proud old girl, joined Methodist College in January 2018 as a member of the academic staff. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Special) Degree in Finance from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Colombo. She is also a Certified Accountant in Business . Mrs. Benjamin assumed duties as the Sectional Head of the A/L Arts Stream in January 2023. Known for her efficiency, commitment and strong organisational skills, she has carried out her responsibilities with dedication and professionalism. Her academic background in Finance, coupled with her experience in education and administration, has enabled her to contribute effectively to the academic and administrative work of the school, which led to her appointment as Co-Vice Principal in 2026
Headmistress
Mrs. Nilmini Kurukulasooriya
Mrs. Kurukulasooriya assumed duties as Headmistress of the Primary School in January 2022, after her role as a Sectional Head from July 2020 to December 2021. A past pupil of the school, Mrs. Kurukulasooriya has served Methodist College for the past 25 years, having been a Class Teacher of Grades 1 to 5 for 20 of those years. She guides the students of the Primary both firmly and kindly, ensuring discipline in their early years at school. She teaches Mathematics, English and Christianity to students in the Primary, also having taught Sinhala, Environmental Studies and other aesthetic subjects in the past. Mrs. Kurukulasooriya was also a warranted Sylvanna of the 1st Colombo Little Friends
